Caju, Le Petit Hotel

Located in a historic neighborhood of Funchal, Madeira, the hotel occupies the old Caju building and offers an intimate boutique experience with just 24 rooms. Its visual identity draws inspiration from the building’s history and complements both its decor and its petit charm. Influenced by Art Nouveau symbols from the golden age of classic European hotels, the logo reproduces a detail from the architectural façade — reimagined in a minimal, contemporary way.

The word Caju is set in Grifo, a typeface by Portuguese designer Rui Abreu, evoking the building’s classic heritage and the glamour of a boutique hotel. In contrast, I designed the Le Petit Hotel typography to be clean and linear, echoing the minimalism of the logo and hotel signage.
